Interviewing can be a pleasant experience – if you’re prepared. To help our potential event managers feel more comfortable when they speak with a hiring manager, here are some of the most challenging Evolution MPC interview questions (and suggestions for how to answer them):
• “Why Should We Hire You?”: Whether someone comes right out and asks it or not, this question is one of the main reasons for an interview in the first place, so having an answer for it is a good idea. Consider the hard and soft skills for the role, match them with personal strengths, and then find real-world examples and data to support your position.
• “Where Do You Want to Be Five Years From Now?”: Don’t get hung up on the existential implications of this query. In an interview, this is simply a way to find out who is growth-focused and goal-oriented, and who has realistic expectations. Our Evolution MPC suggestion is to be honest, and also to ask your own questions like, “Where do team members in this role usually end up five years from now?”
• “What Are Your Strengths?”: We’re not as interested in weaknesses as some other organizations might be, but knowing the answer to that side of the question might be helpful as well. If you’re not clear on either strengths or shortcomings, ask friends or trusted colleagues for their opinions.
As in most things, preparation is the key to a relaxed interviewing experience. Visit our Evolution MPC Facebook page for more interview tips.
