Self-Talk Curriculum & Teaching Material

Coaching today is hard and it is not going to get any easier.

Coaches have to balance the demands of becoming effective teachers of the tactics and skills of their sport while becoming proficient at handling the demands of helping teams maximize their potential off the court or field.

My goal with Evolution Mental Performance is to help ease that burden for coaches.
Our curriculums will help coaches learn, teach and incorporate mental performance skills into their coaching.

Additionally this will help athletes develop skills that they can use to help monitor and improve their mental health long after they finish playing sports.

All of our curricula will include the following:

1.) An Education section for coaches.
This will include a concise background of the most recent research and literature on that specific mental skill to help the coach answer the question of why these skills are important and how they will help their athletes.

2.) Lesson Plans to use with Athletes.
Our curriculum will include a resources to help coaches teach these skills to their athletes, including PowerPoints, handouts and activities to help athletes understand the benefits of using these skills.

3.) Techniques to help Athletes become proficient using the skills.
The curriculum will also provide coaches with ways to help athletes practice and incorporate these skills to become mentally tougher and more prepared for competition. Like any skill, practice is the key to mastery.

4.) Techniques to help Athletes use these skills in their lives away from sport.
Using Mental Performance Skills will help athletes improve their performance in sport but these are skills that athletes can take with them and use long after they are done playing sport.

Cohort Based Master Class for Coaches

I am excited to be offering our first Cohort Based Master Course on how to teach Mental Performance Skills.  The course will start on September 14th, 21st, 28th Oct 5th & 12th.

The course will include the following:

5 one hour online sessions

Self-Talk Curriculum

Social Media platform for Group discussion and sharing

Session 1: The Importance of Teaching Mental Performance Skills

Session 2: Education, Experimentation & Embedding Mental Performance Skills

Session 3: Utilizing the Self-Talk Curriculum

Session 4: Teaching Various Mental Performance Skills

Session 5: Q & A, loose ends,

For Athletes or Teams.

Self-talk is one of the most impactful mental performance skills an athlete can learn. Improving Self-talk will improve performance and it will also impact mental health.

The class will consist of five sessions, one hour in length. Sessions will cover:

What Self-talk is and why it is an important Mental Skill.

Understand the impact that Self-talk has on athletic performance.

Acquire skills to monitor and positively change their Self-talk.

How to help their teammates with their Self-talk.

Understand how Self-talk impacts their lives away from sport.

This class is ideal for any individual athlete or for a team to take together.

VIA Strengths Survey Lesson Plan

Please download our Values In Action (VIA) Strengths Survey Lesson Plan to use with your team.  The Values in Action (VIA) survey focuses on an individuals strengths.  It is a fun activity to use with your team. Players really enjoy discovering their strengths and guessing the strengths of their teammates and coaches.  Our download contains a detailed rationale for you the coach, a PowerPoint to help you teach the lesson, all the handouts and materials and a link to an evaluation for you and your athletes to let us know how helpful you found the lesson.
